CONCURRENT,
INTERTAINER TEAM ON VOD
CULVER CITY, Calif.-Intertainer Inc. and Concurrent Computer Corp. have
inked an alliance that calls for the melding of Intertainer's Broadband
Entertainment On Demand network with Concurrent's video-on-demand (VOD)
platform. The combined offering will enable the Intertainer service,
which manages a large programming library from studios such as Columbia
TriStar Television, Dreamworks SKG and Warner Bros., to run on all new
and legacy Motorola and Scientific-Atlanta (S-A) set-top boxes, the
companies said.
"We've
selected Concurrent as our technology partner in part because the alliance
accelerates our market entry," said Jonathan Taplin, Intertainer's president
and CEO, in a statement.
Intertainer
and Concurrent have hooked up before. In 1998, Intertainer selected
Concurrent's MediaHawk video server for the deployment of its interactive
applications to cable customers who get the service directly via their
TV sets.
