INTERTAINER APPOINTS STEPHEN STE. MARIE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF
OPERATING OFFICER
CULVER CITY, Calif., June 4, 2001 -- Intertainer, the entertainment
on-demand broadband network, today named industry leader Stephen
Ste. Marie as President and Chief Operating Officer. Effective immediately,
Ste. Marie will report directly to Intertainer Chief Executive Officer
Jonathan Taplin. The appointment comes as Intertainer begins wide-scale
deployments of its service to digital cable and DSL customers nationwide.
Ste. Marie will be responsible for Intertainer's day-to-day operations
and will play a significant role in managing the company's strategic
direction as it continues to establish itself as the premiere video-on-demand
service in the industry. He will be based at the company's corporate
headquarters in Culver City, California.
"Steve's deep experience in the cable, satellite and internet industries
has amply prepared him to fill this crucial management role at Intertainer,"
said Jonathan Taplin, Chief Executive Officer of Intertainer. "As
we continue to grow, it will be incredibly helpful for me to have
a person of his capability and vision to lead the organization."
Richard Baskin, Intertainer's Chairman stated," Steve is exactly
the kind of leader we want at Intertainer -- smart, experienced,
creative, passionate and innovative. He has everything it will take
to continue building Intertainer into a world-class media company."
Ste. Marie was previously Chief Executive Officer for CareerPath.com,
where he had overall responsibility for the company's operating
management and strategy. Under his guidance, the company merged
with CareerBuilder.com in September 2000 to create the leading career
management site on the Internet. Prior to CareerPath, Ste. Marie
was Senior Vice President of DirecTV Inc., where he was responsible
for the company's highly successful marketing and retail sales distribution
efforts. In that capacity, he oversaw all consumer launch strategies,
as well as several key business functions, including pricing, marketing,
advertising, promotion and distribution channel development. Under
his direction, DIRECTV became a nationally-known brand and category
leader in the subscription television industry.
Earlier in his career, Ste. Marie served as Senior Vice President
at American Television and Communications Corporation (now Time
Warner Cable) and Vice President of Marketing at Viacom International.
Before entering the media business in 1981, Ste. Marie was a product
management executive for the Pepsi Cola Company.
"Intertainer's unique blend of content, technology and consumer
benefits have made the company the undisputed entertainment on demand
category leader," said Ste. Marie. "I am privileged to be joining
the Intertainer team at such an exciting period in its development
and to have the opportunity to assist Jon and Richard in realizing
their great vision."
Ste. Marie currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors
for Home Director Inc. He was also the first member of the Advisory
